Purim
Every year Minyan Shachar celebrates Purim night with its own special megillah reading.
This year, the 2010 Purim megilla reading filled the upstairs bet midrash at the Hebrew Institute of Riverdale to capacity. In a burst of creative energy the individual character parts were played by several talented actors who read the lines of Esther, Mordechai, Haman, and the King with great passion (not to mention accuracy). Each chapter had its own Narrator, and the unusual and dramatic reading added to the great Purim spirit -- (and who knew that Mordechai speaks only 2 lines in the entire megilla ?)
